Pakal’s Levers

Thank you for your interest in this stone. The following is the approved account.

Pakal’s Levers field illustration

Thank you for visiting. The king is going to the underworld. That is the plate.

The label is already on the glass. A sacred tree. A drop into the dark. A ritual object that does not move. The museum will serve mythology until the line goes quiet.

But the man on the lid is not falling. He is seated. His hands are on what look like levers. His face is turned up, not down. You do not grip a branch that way when you are dying. You grip it that way when you are flying the plate.

  1. Procedure 01

Read the hands before the caption

A journey down lets go. A cockpit holds on. If the stone shows a grip and a gaze at the ceiling, the underworld is the garnish. The meal is the board.

  2. Procedure 02

    Who wrote “ritual”

The first word on the card arrives from a desk, not from the chisel. Ask what the carving does if you remove the sentence. If the scene only becomes a myth after the label is glued on, you are not holding a tomb. You are holding a cover.

  3. Procedure 03

    Follow the look

He is not watching the dirt. He is watching above. Write what is over a king who never looks at the floor. If the official plate needs his eyes to be closed, open the lid again.

The underworld is the cover. The levers are the ticket. They will talk about the tree all day so you do not ask what he was steering.

Briefing over.
